MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)’s counter-terrorism capabilities got a boost after it received 41 firearms and equipment from the Triton Defense and Logistics Inc. (TLDI) and LCS Group of Companies on Thursday.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and AFP chief Lt. Gen. Andres Centino accepted the donation from LCS Group of Companies chairperson and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson, in a short ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

“Today’s ceremonial turnover is indeed a significant milestone especially for the AFP, as these donated firearms shall undoubtedly complement our firepower capability as we continue to sustain the gains of our internal security campaigns while equally supporting the government’s national development agenda,” Centino said in a statement.

The AFP received a total of 41 units of assorted firearms and accessories which will be distributed to various military units.

The assistance was made possible through a deed of donation agreed upon and signed by former AFP chief, Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. and TDLI chief operating officer Randolf V. Singson which was subsequently approved and signed by Lorenzana.

The donation emphasized the donors’ appreciation towards the AFP and their willingness to assist in the military’s mandate.

“I would like to thank you for accomplishing your tasks to help our government under the leadership of our President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” Singson said.

Centino also guaranteed the donors that their assistance will be put to good use.

“Be assured that we will take extraordinary measures to ensure that this equipment will be cared for and utilized to their maximum potential in fulfillment of the AFP’s constitutional mandate,” he said. (PNA)
